- I was working at an office as a secretary and he came in to see the manager who was his uncle and while he waited we talked for an hour and that was it for him. He asked me out that day, we went out that night and he asked me to be his girlfriend at the end of the night. A week later he told me he wanted to marry me someday. A week later he told me he was madly in love with me!
- How did your fiancee propose to you
- My husband and I weren't together very long before we decided to get married. As a matter of fact he told his parents he was in love with me and that he was going to marry me even after knowing me for just two weeks. So I on Christmas morning, 2005, we were opening presents and he handed me this huge box. Everyone had opened theirs and it was my turn to open mine. So he handed me this big box and I was thinking, hmmm, this is very light, what could it be? I tore the gift wrapping paper off, and opened the box and there was newspaper inside. So I was thinking, this is a lame joke and I gave him a weird look. He just smiled and said, "There's something there, go on." Reluctantly, still thinking this was a bad joke, I got the paper out and there was a fancy jewelry box at the bottom. My first thought was that he got me a necklace, since my ears aren't pierced.
I put the paper aside, got the box out, opened it and was shocked to see a diamond ring staring up at me. For a minute my mind was blank and then I got it. It was an engagement ring! My eyes shot at him with what must have been a face of pure surprise cause he was grinning as he watched me then said, "What? You didn't think you would get one?" I leaped on him and planted a huge wet on him, so wet he pushed me off whispering that I was turning him on. Men!
Hehe. We already knew we were getting married, so yes, it was a huge surprise to me and I didn't think he would get me one, mainly because I did not think he could afford it at the time. I learned after-wards that an elder friend of ours told him to put it in the box so I wouldn't be able to guess and the newspaper was to stop it from shaking just in case I tried to shake it since it was under the tree for about three weeks.
We were married three months later at a civil office so we now we are planning a 2011, 5 year anniversary wedding and inviting our whole family from near and far and I can't wait!

Hey ladies! I would like to start off by wishing everyone of you the best of luck with your planning. My fiance and I are trying to plan a budget friendly wedding of $10,000 or less but that is impossible here in NYC. Any words of advice?
